Exxaro Resources, a leading mining and renewable energy solutions company in South Africa, has been formally recognised as the Top Employer in South Africa for 2023 and a major company to work for. This is the fourth time Exxaro has been honoured by the international Top Employers Institute for its Human Resources (HR) policies and practices. Exxaro first achieved the award in 2014 and subsequently in 2021 and 2022.

Established over 30 years ago, the Top Employers Institute has certified 2 053 organisations worldwide in 121 regions across five continents. These certified Top Employers positively impact the lives of over nine million employees globally.

The Top Employers Institute certifies companies and organisations using the participation of employees and results from its HR Best Practices Survey. This survey comprises six human resources domains, each consisting of 20 topics. These domains are people strategy; work environment; talent acquisition; learning; well-being; and diversity and inclusion.

Hemuna Bhola, Acting Executive Head of Human Resources at Exxaro expresses “to be recognised for the fourth time as a top employer on the global stage is a great honour that we do not take lightly. It is through the hard work of everyone at Exxaro that we always consider our people our greatest asset. Investing in our workforce and company culture remains a top priority. We will continue to serve and deliver our best work to our stakeholders while developing expert talent.”

“Maintaining high standards in terms of employee satisfaction and retention are the main reasons for Exxaro’s continued success. This recognition should be an example to all South African organisations, proving that it is possible to succeed financially and take care of your staff simultaneously,” adds Hemuna.
