The Topcon HiPer VR GNSS receiver is a complete solution for static or kinematic GNSS post-processed surveys. Tailored for use in infrastructure planning and execution, it is also used as a network RTK rover and is available in base and network rover configurations.
The Topcon FC6000 rugged controller incorporates MAGNET Field software and 4G/LTE/UHF LongLink communication formats. The receiver incorporates Topcon Integrated Levelling Technology (TILT), which
compensates for mis-levelled field measurements by as much as a 15° differential. Small, light and compact, the receiver is ideal for millimetre GPS and hybrid positioning.
Topcon’s patented universal tracking channels technology allows the HiPer VR to track all satellites, all constellations and all modernised signals. Unique electronic option files enable instant activation of available features, which means the HiPer VR is highly configurable and ready for any project. Its rugged design withstands the harshest job site environments and increases equipment longevity, proven by its IP 67 rating and with
real field experience.
The Topcon MAGNET field software connects field and office seamlessly and helps meet some of the most complex positioning challenges. It is used to collect points, stake out road and site projects, lay out building components and perform land surveys. Along with the ability to calculate, contour and compare surfaces, it includes a vast library of compatible 2D, 3D and BIM file formats, and offers surveyors a host of other benefits.
“Easy to understand and use, a few of the receiver’s benefits include an intuitive user interface with short learning curve, an advanced roading toolset and field to office cloud connectivity via MAGNET Enterprise,” explains Huxley Reynolds, Group Hardware Sales Manager, WorldsView. “The receiver’s TILT functionality is made possible with a 9-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) and ultra-compact 3-axis eCompass. This enables easy shots on steep slopes or hard to reach points.”
HiPer VR GNSS is covered by Topcon’s 12-month warranty, facilitated by WorldsView, with all services and repairs carried out at the authorised WorldsView Service Centre, a state-of-the-art Topcon-accredited service and repair centre, which includes service, repair and calibration facilities. “We also tailor maintenance plans for HiPer VR fleet
users,” Reynolds points out.
WorldsView delivers orders for the HiPer VR GNSS receiver ex-stock, and undertakes a standard 14 day lead time anywhere in Africa and Mauritius. With the Topcon full wave antenna, the device tracks GNSS signals available today as well as tracking the constellations and signals of tomorrow.
Satisfied customers In a case study on one of Topcon’s customers in San Francisco, various surveying
personnel involved in the development of an apartment complex commented: “There is limited line of site on this development, and using a robotic total station is almost out of the question. The HiPer VR has been a different experience, it is the best unit that I have used as far as tracking and keeping a fix is concerned.”
“TILT compensation is probably one of the key features that I like, and the ability to stay fixed when you’re up against buildings or near trees. There is a big difference when you access the 20 plus satellites, and my job is made easier with the TILT correction when I’m doing topography and staking.” “The biggest factor I think at the end of the day is the time saving factor. A new employee being able to handle the Topcon equipment quickly and easily is a benefit.” “I took about 10 minutes of training over the phone with my boss, from there I localised and got to work.” Topcon is distributed and serviced in South Africa and Africa via WorldsView .
