With Factory and Headquarters in Japan, Asahi is one of the world leaders in the Design/Manufacture of high quality Thermoplastic Non Corrosive Valves, Gaskets and Actuators. The company has acquired a local distributor and established “ASAHI AFRICA”, which is responsible for sales, technical service and product advice for the continent of Africa.
Asahi manufactures a range of thermoplastic valves including Ball Valves, Diaphragm Valves, Butterfly Valves, Check Valves, Gate Valves, Stop Valves, Pinch Valves, Gauge Valves and Control Valves, as well as an excellent range of gaskets and pneumatic actuators.
Manufactured from Class A virgin resin, the Asahi valve range covers a wide range of sizes, materials and valve types and is ideal for demanding industrial applications in the mining, chemical, petrochemical, paper & pulp, and desalination, water & wastewater treatment. In the mining industry in particular, they are widely used in acid plants and comply with stringent international quality assurance standards, including ISO 9001.
Five carefully selected mining valve features

- Diaphragm valves
With their robust thermoplastic (thick-walled and all in one molded) bodies and bonnets, ASAHI diaphragm valves not only have excellent mechanical strength but are also available in a variety of material combinations to suit a wide range of chemical applications.
ASAHI diaphragm valves offer the best sealing performance and are suitable for the control of aggressive chemical fluids and gases. They are also suitable for chemical slurry fluids.
Through many years of experience, ASAHI diaphragm valve has not only achieved low torque handle operation with high sealing performance, but also use a 3-layer diaphragm construction, to prevent corrosion of the metal insert due to the permeation of corrosive gases such as chlorine. In addition, by improving the elastomer performance against external leakage between the body and bonnet due to heat cycling, we have succeeded in extending the service life even with little to no maintenance. With regular replacement of parts, these products can last up to 50 years in some applications and are highly recommended by ASAHI with confidence.
- Ball Valves
ASAHI’s thermoplastic ball valves have been designed to be as spherical as possible for ease of use and durability, and are actually more round shape than the earth. It has a user-friendly handle design that is sure to make you fall in love with it once you have it in your hand, and the ISO mounting pads make it easy to change the valve for actuated operation on site. The ball valve has a full bore and low pressure drop characteristics, but is not suitable for any slurry applications.
- Swing Check Valve
ASAHI’s Swing Check Valves are designed for mechanical strength and corrosion resistance in the same way as diaphragm valves. Under flow pressure, the check mechanism moves freely in the fluid, so there is very little resistance and pressure loss is kept to a minimum. Used as a set with diaphragm valves, it is possible to perform preventive maintenance on expensive piping equipment such as pumps in advance.
- Butterfly Valves
ASAHI’s butterfly valves are designed for ease of operation and shaft sealing performance. Although they are resistant to suspended solids, they are not suitable for applications involving slurry or debris (diaphragm valves are more suitable for such applications). Butterfly valves are suitable for large diameter lines and their low profile makes them suitable for use in confined spaces. Flue gas duct lines in smelting plants are often subject to accelerated corrosive environments due to chemical reactions, and in these degassing lines ASAHI butterfly valves and dampers are effective. (The dampers can only adjust the airflow, not the fluid stillness.) One of ASAHI’s best features is that we were the first to successfully increase the diameter of our products. The latest model, the 58, is the third full model change and offers a unique combination of weight saving and chemical resistance.
- Gate Valves
ASAHI’s gate valves, like diaphragm valves, are thermoplastic valves designed for mechanical strength. They have been used in many pumping stations and have also been used in water intake and buried piping in corrosive atmospheres. We are currently in the process of obtaining PN16 standards and are working hard to provide even greater safety and security. This product is also available with flexible options such as cap top, rising and non-rising spindle valves for foreign matter contamination lines, RSV, and extended spindle valves for confined or difficult to reach locations.
In general, the design of the Asahi valve range allows for reliable performance, the valves are light weight which allows for easy installation and low maintenance, reducing operating costs and extending service life.
Service for African customers
ASAHI’s subsidiary “ASAHI AFRICA” in South Africa is available to assist customers with their valve-related project requirements in terms of technical support, product selection and supply and installation services. “Our mission is not only to increase stock and shorten delivery times, but also to connect you directly with the factory. We would be happy to receive your frank opinion and product development requests,” ASAHI AFRICA guarantees.
