Marine seismic acquisition survey contract was awarded on March 8th this year, for the GJDR Development area of block 17 in Angola.

The contract was awarded by Total E&P Angola, the Central African country’s leading oil operator since 1953, to Shearwater Geoservices holding AS, a Bergen, Norway based seismic exploration company that provides 3D and 4D marine seismic data, imaging products, and data processing software offers marine surveys, geophysical surveys, and other related services to the oil and gas exploration industry.

About the survey

According to the contract, Shearwater will undertake the survey in two months starting from this month (March 2021).

One of the Bergen-based company’s main multisensor vessels will be used for the study, along with source vessels from the Shearwater fleet. This will lead to efficiency gains, reduce transit times and create business and environmental benefits for Total E&P Angola.

“As an established global leader in the field of 4D monitoring studies, Shearwater is pleased to announce this advanced multisensor project awarded by Total in the Republic of Angola. We have seen a noticeable increase in interest in 4D technology, for our clients’ projects planned for this year, which is demonstrated by the award of this project in the Africa continent”, said Irene Waage Basili, Managing Director of Shearwater.
