African Mining Brief is reliably informed that the Mozambique government has granted South Africa’s Sasol the right to explore new blocks for gas and oil.
Sasol is a seasoned industry player, not be easily carried away though. In spite of massive potential of investment gas and oil sectors on the continent, the company’s executives are cautiously optimistic. South Africa’s Sunday Times’ Business Times section quotes them highlighting as some of the challenges as “availability, price and cost of producing sufficient quantities of gas”.
