NEW PLUG AND PLAY DIAGNOSTIC DEVICE AVAILABLE FROM GPS TRACKING SOLUTIONS
GPS Tracking Solutions, a company in the Eqstra Holdings Group, has introduced a new plug and play diagnostic device which utilises leading edge OBD II communication platform for data gathering. The device can read diagnostic information from the vehicle ECU / OBC to capture location and operational data, sending it to a backend server for real-time remote diagnostic and tracking purposes. This communication platform enables fleet owners to drive the benefits of data from actual manufacturer designed systems as it is not a third party additional device derivative for data gathering .
The plug and play element ensures seamless installation as no wiring, joints or harness cuts are required. “There is very little human intervention required in the installation equation which reduces vehicle downtime on installation as well as downtime due to possible installation faults and poor quality,” said Graeme Steyn, Director of GPS
The unit allows fleet managers to collect and analyse comprehensive diagnostic and location data, including information on driving behaviour, from the vehicle. It is suitable for use on both passenger and commercial vehicles and is OBD II/EOBD, J1939 and J1708 compliant. Alarms are activated in the event of speeding; high RPM; hard acceleration; hard braking; low power; excessive idling; battery malfunction; ignition on/off detection; fatigue driving and excessive exhaust emission. Warning e-mails are sent to the driver/fleet manager via phone or computer in the event of an alarm sounding. “Reducing downtime on vehicles, thereby reducing costs and raising performance, has become an essential element in efficient fleet control,” concluded Steyn.
“This unit allows managers to closely monitor their vehicles in real-time, eliminating problems and improving driver behaviour to increase vehicle efficiency”.
