Aureus Mining is currently prospecting to start gold production in Cape Mount County in July next year.
Chief Executive Officer for Aureus, David Reading confirmed the reports and said that they anticipate the company will be producing 120,000 ounces of gold annually from the new mine, thus enhancing the country’s economic growth.
Mr. Reading also pointed out that although the progress of the getting the gold mine off the ground has come with several challenges such as poor infrastructure, he was pleased that the mine would become the largest commercial gold mine in Liberia.
The company acquired a loan of US$ 250m for the investment in the grand gold mine project. The country recently reported having exported diamonds worthUS$62 million.
