African mines are beginning to focus increased attention on improving efficiencies of minerals processing plants in order to boost production outputs.
Speaking after this year’s Electra Mining exhibition held in Johannesburg recently, Vishal Gautam of Tega Industries South Africa, said that the majority of visitors at the company’s stands were interested in finding total solutions to improve all aspects of their processing requirements.
He said that it was clear that a trend was emerging where mines are seeking assistance from companies like Tega Industries who are able to offer complete materials handling solutions under one umbrella. Rather than shop around for mill liners from one supplier, screens from another and conveyor components from yet another etc, mines are looking towards specialised solutions where all aspects of a process are viewed holistically and optimised through properly engineered solutions.
Showcasing diversity
“Electra Mining was an important opportunity for us to show our full product range and introduce people to all our different divisions and showcase our capabilities. As a result of the increasing demand for total solutions, we invested in two stands this year and were able to show visitors our solutions and introduce them to some of our experts which present at the show.
“Representatives from our branches in Zambia and Ghana were also present to interact with the many African visitors to the show and we were also able to introduce visitors to representatives from our international operations, such as India and Australia etc.
“The kind of global expertise we are able to bring to the fore is exactly what the market is after at the moment. Mines want new technologies to improve efficiency, but are also looking for solutions that have been tried and tested in other parts of the world,” says Gautam.
Interacting with all levels
He added that the two stands that the company constructed at the exhibition were aimed at introducing decision makers to the wide variety of products and services (offered by Tega Industries) in an open and interactive way. It also gave visitors the opportunity to touch and feel products and simultaneously be able to talk to anyone involved in the supply chain, from the designers, to the sales agents, logistics teams or even financial department in order to discuss solutions that would work for their own operations.
“In the end we had nearly 1000 visitors who interacted with us on our stands and made hundreds of valuable new contacts. We also showcased our ability to provide comprehensive solutions to mines’ wear, materials handling and minerals processing requirements and were able to prove our ability to meet African mines requirements for – total solutions – from a single supplier,” Gautam concluded.
New releases on show
Tega Industries introduced a number of exciting new products at Electra Mining 2014. These included Tega Scanning Solutions, a calibrated 3D scanning system to measure wear of linings and assist with the specification and requirements for new linings.
New injection moulded screen panels also received a lot of attention at the show as these are able to be made to customers’ exact requirements using the latest plastic and composite materials to match ore types.
For the first time in South Africa visitors were also introduced to the company’s unique Combi Liners which combine different lining materials to provide the right flow, protection and other characteristics for different processes. Combinations of ceramics, metals, rubber, plastic s and composites are used together in a single operation to ensure equipment is protected, bottlenecks are reduced and cost and maintenance requirements are minimised.
Tega Industries was able to showcase total solutions for mines’ mineral processing and wear requirements.
