Ghanaian government has decided to construct two new gold refineries in the country to aid in the value addition and processing of precious stones before exporting.
This was confirmed by President John Dramani Mahama, while addressing Ghanaians when he visited Worcester in Boston, Massachusetts, in the United States of America. He pointed out that as much as the refineries will increase the country’s economy, it would also ensure new job opportunities have been created.
This initiative will also have a positive influence towards the miners, since it would encourage mining companies to carry out their activities throughout the year. Currently, most of them close any time since there is a decline in the commodity on the international market.
The amount that will be spent to make this project a success was, however, not revealed.
